During the WW2 Teesside served as an RAF bomber base and was turned into a civil airport during the 1960s, with the first scheduled flight taking off in 1966, headed for Manchester. Currently known as Durham Tees Valley airport, it now offers flights to a wide selection of destinations across Europe.
Located approximately 10 miles from Middlesbrough, the airport has recently seen some significant improvements, such as a new access road completion and major car park facilities upgrade.
