Very Bad Airport
This must be one of the worst airports I have ever visited. Very small; same arrival and departure gate.Very rude staff who constantly gape at you as if your a terrorist. There is no AC in very high temperatures so your are expected to stand and sweat with no seating areas. Flies and cockroaches are all over the floors and your bags are searched by hand in front of everyone and things thrown about. When leaving the airport you have to pass metal bars, like in a jail and are very hard to pass with suitcases and trolleys. Avoid at all costs.
This airport is not there to attract tourist. On the contrary, it shows the lack of interest in comfort and anyone who goes through there wishes to get out as quickly as possible. There were no lights working when I was there. The checking of passports were arbitrary and it was very hard to keep an eye on my luggage. As soon as it appeared on the only baggage belt it was grabbed by someone I did not know. I was then requested to pay the person who handled my bags. They searched my bag in front of everyone, people stood around, staring at my things, and even though I was able to go on my way, I was the only person on my flight to have my items checked thoroughly. On the way out, they systematically confiscate your luggage and to get it back one must pay 20 dollars. No questions asked. They search everything by hand, and all souvenirs must be declared. It was overall not an enjoyable experience, but at the same time, I cannot expect western standards everywhere I go.

This airport has undergone a complete transformation over the past 12 months. Originally this was one of the worst airports I had ever experienced, no A/C, no clear instructions for arrivals or departures, crumbling buildings and almost no sign of working electricity. Now it is a modern, clean, fully air-conditioned airport with proper check-in desks, departures lounge, arrivals passport control and luggage collection. It is just short of completion but the strides made in 2015 are impressive.
