I worked as school principal in Ivujivik from 1971 to 1974. My education was in public work engineering. I used my grade 4 students to search and prepare the airstrip project in September 1973 with profiles and location of gravel pits. The project was sent to the district manager IAND F. Marcoux. His reply was an offer to be the technical superintendent for the Hudson Bay District [Jan.1975-77] I have a picture of the school kids holding the surveyor rod. I believe the present airstrip was build in 1996 based on this school kids project.
